After pausing its services in January, Lloyds Online Doctor has today (Monday 12th July) relaunched its digital operation in the Republic of Ireland providing online consultations and prescriptions to patients.
Lloyds Online Doctor launched in July 2013 and was one of the first online doctor services in Ireland. Due to changes in the law linked to the end of the Brexit transition period, Irish-registered but UK-based clinicians were no longer allowed to prescribe for Irish patients and the service had to be paused at the start of the year.
With a team of doctors now based in Ireland, the digital service has resumed online consultations and prescribing services to patients in the Republic of Ireland.
Dr Kieran Seyan, Chief Medical Officer at Lloyds Online Doctor said:
“The team have worked really hard to get our Irish service back up and running and we’re really pleased to be back, helping our patients with their healthcare needs again. Being able to access care remotely during the pandemic has been vital for some patients and we were disappointed to have to pause our services for a short time. Now we’re operational again, our goal continues to be providing accessible and affordable healthcare and we hope patients will continue to value the convenience, discretion and quality of our service.”
The services offered by Lloyds Online Doctor in the Republic of Ireland mirror those offered in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with the exception of STI testing which will launch soon.
Before its temporary suspension, routine contraception and treatment for erectile dysfunction were the most-used services provided by Lloyds Online Doctor in the Republic of Ireland.
